Works depicting inanimate objects are etched with immoral acts or abandonment - here, physical and spiritual decay intersect and moral decline hastens the demise of the material object.
The spirit may revitalize the physical or ruin the physical. Conversely, the physical has the potential to revive the spirit, but may also corrupt the spirit. These themes are all explored throughout my work.
It is my intention to allow these old buildings and objects, devoid of life's energy, to provoke curiosity and expose the relationship between material and immaterial degeneration.
All is susceptible to decay - animate or inanimate.
The spirit may purify with time or may degrade with time.
The soul blackens by actions and words. The soul revitalizes by actions and words.
We have control over spiritual decline.
Soul may be corrupted by material.
Spirit may act on spirit, positive or negative.
Physical deterioration is imminent - it is a return to elemental balance - this may only be thwarted by the animate.
Balance degrades the inanimate. Balance maintains the animate.
